Pro Football Hall of Fame, George Halas Dr NW, Canton, Ohio
NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame
Canton is the birthplace of American professional football and home to the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame. Each year, the nation watches as a new class of enshrinees are inducted during a week-long celebration that includes sporting history, a nationally televised football game, the Enshrinees’ Gold Jacket Dinner and much more.
The museum has undergone many enhancements in recent years, but the most exciting development is the Johnson Controls Hall of Fame Village. Once complete, the nearly $600 million project will include a luxury hotel, retail and restaurants, a virtual reality amusement park, an updated stadium, a youth sports complex, and a sports research and medical center. While development is well under way, the opening of the full facility is projected to come online in 2019 to coincide with the NFL’s 100th season.
As Hall of Fame Village looks to revolutionize the fan experience, it will do so using the latest technology, thanks to its partnership with Johnson Controls. The company, which specializes in efficiency building and energy storage, is helping Hall of Fame Village become what many refer to as a “smart city.” In essence, a smart city refers to any series of smart buildings and infrastructure that are interconnected to create efficiencies; they can be controlled remotely through a central location.
